I’ve just read chapters 8 to 11. Something which I noticed particularly was the number of very concrete visions: Ananias was told very specifically in a vision to go to Saul (Paul) to tell him about Christ; Cornelius saw an angel, who told him to send for Peter; Peter saw a vision of unclean animals, and could immediately apply it to the situation of going to Cornelius’ house. They also seem to often be built on senses that something would be ‘a good idea’, or that God is showing us a general direction. It seems to me that the directness of the visions in Acts was far more effective in expanding the Kingdom than our current ‘visions’. Is God moving differently now, or are we missing something through not expecting him to speak more directly? Or does it have something to do with our closeness to (or rather, distance from) him, as I started discussing in my previous post? If we look at the example of Ananias being told to go to Saul, it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with hesitancy to do something we are told; Ananias’ initial response to the vision was “But he’s the guy who has been persecuting the church!”

Am I right in my perception that our visions and sense of direction from the Holy Spirit are less accurate and specific than is recorded in Acts?

I’ve been reading Acts in the past few days.
